Residential Development - Affordable & Social Housing
Case Study: Ravenswood and Rapier Street
Ravenswood was part of a larger housing scheme constructed on the site of the old Ipswich Airfield. Timber cladding and timber balconies (right) were a key visual feature of the design. M & S were also responsible for interior features including kitchen installation, koto veneered doors hung in softwood frames, and associated MDF mouldings.
Recent work on the Rapier Street development offered an affordable housing scheme sited just 10 minutes away from Ipswich railway station. It is perfectly placed for commuters who work in London and need modern yet affordable accomodation. Although our scope of works is fairly basic, the sheer quantity of materials involved was staggering. Over the course of the contract we delivered some 5,000 doors and associated fittings. More importantly, our on-site team also handled unloading, distribution and management, hepling to ensure that the project was completed successfully and handed over on time.

There is a growing demand for affordable housing in many inner city areas as rising house prices make it increasingly difficult for young people and key staff to purchase their own homes.
Residential developments of this kind are normally on a larger scale, and demand the services of experienced and efficient subcontractors. As with private housing this is an area in which we excel.
M & S can ensure:
Experienced craftsmen on site, drawn from a pool of up to 200 skilled carpenters
Efficient, cost effective planning and logistics
Quality management to the highest standards
Delivery on time and within budget - even under challenging conditions
