Case Study: NHS Intermediate Care Facility
Projects for the National Health Service inevitably combine restriced budgets with high specifications.
At the new intermediate Care Facility in ipswich we carried out a complicated joinery package, including many important external timber details, which closely interfaced with various other trades and finshes.
The design of the the building was based around sweeping curved roof tops and vertical turrets structures (below). We formed many of these curves from timber, creating a frame which was then clad in plywood, and fininshed in either zinc or cedar.
The fit-out works included the installation of maple-veneered doors, frames and associated timber mouldings. We also manufactured the nurse stations, reception desks and the maple back panelling to the main reception area.

Education and Healthcare provides M & S Ltd with an opportunity to showcase the major benfits from sub-letting large joinery packages on a supply and fix basis.
Bulding hospitals, student accomodation and schools usually involves high-value packages that demand very detailed scheduling and planning. Typically they will also require a fast-track construction programme that calls for a large and highly skilled workforce.
M & S Ltd has gained valuable experience in this area, and our core strengths have been developed to meet precisely these challenging requirements - as our track record over the past few years can clearly demonstrate.
By working with leading specialist suppliers and combining the experience of our management teams we can offer a complete package and deliver cost-effective solutions to the most demanding of projects.
Projects we have completed include Oxford Brookes University, Reading University, Colchester Hospital, Ipswich Hospital and Highcroft Hospital in Birmingham.
